Pristine beaches, gourmet produce and the world’s happiest animal

Standing on a cliff-edge, peering across the rugged precipice at an empty stretch of spectacular coastline, it becomes apparent that the south-west region of Western Australia should be higher on your bucket list.

While the notion of Perth and its surrounds being ‘too far’ keeps the bustling crowds away, the area abundantly rewards those ready to explore. Just minutes from the vibrant port-city, there are bountiful national parks, marine reserves, white-sand beaches, world-renowned wineries and the forever-smiling quokka waiting for the discerning traveller.

A luxury journey to the west

This 7-day Inspiring Journey to Australia’s southwestern corner will immerse you in one of the most diverse holiday destinations on earth. Beginning in Perth and meandering southwards to Margaret River – the fresh sea air and ocean views instantly rejuvenate mind, body and soul.

With the perfect mix of organised activities and free time to explore independently, delve deeper on private experiences or simply put your feet up with a good book. Designed with flexibility in mind, you'll have time to unwind and enjoy Western Australia at your own pace. The endless sunshine, natural beauty – and perhaps the isolation – have distilled an eclectic culture that’s magnetic, warm and welcoming.

Surround yourself with native flora and fauna on a relaxed wander in Kings Park – one of the world’s largest urban parklands. Then join locals at a popular community space where the Swan River meets the city – take your camera as this is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque cityscapes.

Beyond the city boundaries, cruise the Indian Ocean to witness dolphins, penguins, sea lions and birds frolicking in the crystal-clear waters of Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. Depending on the time of year, you might be lucky to catch a pod of humpback whales migrating to warmer waters.

Immerse yourself in a diverse natural playground

When to visit south-west WA
South West WA has made its name as a surf destination and wine region due to its mild, Mediterranean climate. Visit between spring and autumn to make the most of the hillside vineyards and deserted coastline.

In spring, witness dazzling displays as 8000 species of wildflower bloom across the region between August and November. As things heat up in summer, make the most of the sparkling waterways and white sand beaches. Once autumn arrives in March, watch an explosion of colour transform the vineyards of Margaret River with a local glass of red matched with some freshly foraged truffles.
