Your Journey Itinerary

1 Welcome to Hobart, Tasmania
-
Upon arrival, meet your Journey Director and fellow travellers for a leisurely start to the day. Take time this morning to go in search of the best coffee, wander through shops in the nearby city centre, or explore historical Salamanca Place and its many fine art galleries.
Mid-morning you will head off to the picturesque Derwent Valley. The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery in New Norfolk is a unique restaurant housed within the town’s old asylum. Borne from a longing to grow and cook authentic local food where the ingredients speak for themselves, you’ll enjoy an indulgent three course lunch that will delight the senses.
This afternoon, explore at your own leisure, with either a visit to the iconic Museum of New and Old Art (MONA) followed by a ferry transfer back to Hobart, or sit back and relax with a two hour wine tasting at the rustic Derwent Estate Vineyard. Join your Journey Director and fellow travellers for a delicious three course dinner at one of Hobart’s renowned restaurants.

2 Hobart & Surrounds
-
Wander along the historic Hobart Docks this morning to begin your incredible gourmet food and wine day tour of Bruny Island. Today you’ll take in breathtaking landscapes, walk along deserted beaches, and taste fresh local produce from across the island, renowned for its gourmet edge. Meet the producers and farmers as you try cheeses, oysters, fudge, honey, wine, whiskey and so much more as part of a seven-course tasting menu.
This afternoon, relax as you take in your stunning surrounds on the scenic journey back to Hobart and enjoy a free evening at leisure for you to explore or unwind.
-
3 Hobart – Freycinet National Park
-
Today after breakfast, enjoy a city sights tour of the nation’s most southerly capital. See the historic Cascade Brewery, take in the city panorama on Mt Nelson and enjoy a stroll around the quaint streets of Battery Point before leaving the city and heading to the east coast’s oldest winery, Craigie Knowe, for a delicious lunch and private wine tasting. Later visit Devils Corner before arriving at your accommodation, Freycinet Lodge, in the heart of Freycinet National Park.
This afternoon you may like to take the 90-minute round trip hike up to the Wineglass Bay lookout to enjoy unbeatable views of one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Alternatively, simply take a stroll along the beach in front of the hotel or relax on the balcony and enjoy the sunset over magnificent Coles Bay before your BBQ dinner this evening.
Note: Alternate itinerary for days 3-5 for 4 January & 1 February 2021 departures.

4 Freycinet National Park – Launceston
-
After breakfast, we’ll visit Cape Tourville Lighthouse before making our way north to picturesque Bicheno. You’ll have an opportunity to eat a delicious lunch from one of the many cafes and restaurants in the area before visiting the Bicheno Farm shed for a wine or gin tasting. The east coast of Tasmania boasts over 25 wineries, and the Farm Shed stocks them all, so this is the perfect opportunity to support local producers. We then head to Launceston and the luxurious Peppers Silo Hotel on the banks of the idyllic Tamar River. This evening we head to the majestic 200-year-old Quamby Estate country retreat to meet our hosts, Emma and Sarah for a delicious home cooked three course dinner.
